Please pass this instruction document on to your IT department, or the person who looks after your website. If you have any questions, please give Realview a call and we can talk you through this.
For the URL you have selected for your digital publication you will need to create a CNAME record (Canonical Name record) to point to the Realview server.
Basically you will be creating a subdomain of your main domain name yourcompany.com. You will be pointing the subdomain URL to Realview’s server. You are essentially creating an alias, as the URL looks like a 'yourcompany' URL, but is actually directing people to a Realview hosted site.
To do this you need to modify your zone file.
EXAMPLE
Your domain name is yourcompany.com
The URL you have selected for your digital edition is digitaledition.yourcompany.com
(i.e. your readers would browse to http://digitaledition.yourcompany.com)
You need to add the following to the yourcompany.com zone file.
digitaledition IN CNAME digital.realviewtechnologies.com.
CDN CNAME (For Secure Publications Only)
If you have a secure publication (i.e. a publication that uses the Realview Subscription and Security System), you will need to create an additional CNAME in your zone file.
This will enable your secure publication to be delivered through Realview’s CDN (Content Delivery Network).
Continuing the example above:
You need to add the following to the yourcompany.com zone file to enable CDN delivery.
images.digitaledition IN CNAME images.cdn.realviewdigital.com.
Once these steps are done it may take between 2-24 hours for the CNAME to propagate.
